I do quite a lot of vectors of confused looking ponies xD
Does someone have a good idea on how I should do the start of her lower mane? I'm not quite happy with that, but I have no idea how I should do it in this situation...

I always have the reference image inside the SVG, but if you don't want to download it, click here: [link]

>the start of her lower mane?

hhm, that one's quite tricky and i think your approach works pretty well, but i wouldn't hurt to explore other methods x) :
like the usual thing, just tucking the lower mane part under the ear outline, to help the idea, that the mane parts are connected behind the head, without any fancy power strokes or something, pretty standart thing actually, like that
or
including the neck outline, while keeping the mane stroke pretty much like it would be in a pic, where it disappears behind the ear, as per usual. kinda like: this.
imho that's the worst option, but would be ok too *g

oh and btw: nice job on this one, looks spotless :D

Thanks :dummy:
I like your first approach the most, but I wanted the neck to be visible, so I guess my approach is the way to go in this situation^^

sure, why not? :D
i mean, since there's no official manual about vectoring ponies, it's always depending on the pose and i really like those little spots, where you, as a vector artist, can decide where to go with it, even if it's against an established approach... as long as it's nothing like pointy ear tips or something xD
